Rekindle your life around a campfire.

You perhaps have noticed by now, that I love a good campfire.

Gathering and cutting wood, lighting a fire, and cooking outdoors is a great way to reconnect with your true nature. Connected by earth, air and fire, you will feel alive, perhaps for the first time in years.

Who cares if it’s winter? That makes it a great time to warm up!

Alone, you can use it as an opportunity to connect with yourself through quiet, contemplative self-inquiry

Shared with others, it’s a beautiful way to reconnect with partner, friends and family, gathering the food mindfully, cooking together, quietly sitting around the fire as it cooks.

Whilst you eat, you’re all soaking up the warmth of the embers, and of the good company.

A contemplative experience. If used wisely, you can sit as the fire burns, after the meal, sharing thoughts about life and meaning. Sharing zen satsang around the campfire. What a beautiful thing that could be.

Mindful living in action. No book to read for this exercise. Just do it. You won’t just see the difference it makes, you’ll experience it.

Makes me want to head outside and light a fire with some friends, or perhaps, alone, as it’s retreat month…

Kinfolk magazine have a beautiful article about cooking hobo meals over the campfire. There’s plenty of further inspiration there.
