As I write this, in the pre-dawn hour on the island of Crete, I can here the birds singing. Already! Celebrating the day that is coming. It's not light yet, there's barely a glimmer of light on the horizon yet. But they know it's coming, and they're filled with the joyful song of anticipation.

My partner and I are known for our celebratory nature. We celebrate life every day that we live it. We learnt to, because we learnt to value life. We celebrate our civil partnership every month, why wait a whole year? I have been so far given two free passes to extended life by the universe. I have two birthdays a year in honour of that. One of my birth, and one of rebirth, celebrating the bonus years that came since January 12 2000. I learnt a lot since then, but the greatest gift was learning to celebrate life, not mourning the loss of my old life. I celebrate it every day.
