Quiet journeys.
The journey is the moment, and the moment itself is home.
I am a lover of quiet journeys.
Of silent adventures.
I can walk with you, or with a small gathering of friends.
On the beach, in the forest, in the mountains.
In silence.
Stopping to take it all in.
The inner view as much as the outer view.
Sitting, we are in peace.
Even moving, we are in peace.
The photos above were taken on recent quiet journeys here in SW Portugal.
Some journeys last 30 minutes. A short walk in the forest.
Some an hour.
Some are two day 26 km mountain adventures, sleeping in refugios.
Some are alone.
We can learn a lot about ourself when we take time out and walk, when we embrace the wilderness.
Zazen isn't always about sitting.
Such journeys can inspire poetry, prose, spontaneous writings, talks, or whole books. If you're a creative, you can gain so much from this time with the trees, the mountains or the ocean.
How long is it since you connected with nature?
Truly connected?
Take a notebook or audio recorder with you.
A phone will capture photos, video, audio, notes.
That's my way, mostly.
But switch it into airplane mode, or leave it at home.
