Living zen retreat / Day 05.

Flow. Be like water, yet more subtle.

Be the formless, remain empty of all concepts.

“Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless — like water. Now you put water in a cup, it becomes the cup; You put water into a bottle it becomes the bottle; You put it in a teapot it becomes the teapot.

Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”

– Bruce Lee

Even the empty glass above has form, despite being empty. The air is outside it and inside it, no difference. Because if we even retain this empty form, we will not flow. So we must break the glass too. Then we are truly free.

“Water has no shape, its nature is to flow.

If you put it into a vase it will take the shape of the vase. In this cup, it has assumed the shape of the cup.

If poured into my cupped hands it will take the shape of the hands. But water has no shape.

It is the same with the consciousness, which is subtler than water. It similarly has no form, but it assumes the form of whatever concept it is poured into or identifies with, but it will never be the form.

It remains ever its formless nature.”

– Mooji

Flow. Be like water, yet more subtle.

As you go through your day today, whether sitting in meditation, cooking lunch, on a journey, at work, alone, or with others, flow, be like water.

Because you are the unceasing flow of consciousness.
