“What nine months does for the embryo,
forty early mornings
will do for your growing awareness.”– Rumi
The early, pre-dawn hours of the day are such a precious resource. I rise most days, at 4:30am, to sip a fresh brewed coffee under the stars. Some days, I read a contemplation aloud to my partner, then we may have a quiet, brief discussion. Some days, we just sit in silence for 30 minutes. At 5:00am, I sit alone a while.
I can count many more than 40 early mornings like this, but who’s counting? Each day as I awake, I open to awareness as I open my eyes. This time of contemplation and silent sitting consolidates my true position as awareness.
Such joy at this life!
