Empty hand

Empty hand

There is a Zen saying,
“The bird of paradise will only land in an empty hand.”

There comes a point,
where we must come to nothing.

This is the ultimate end-point
of all paths.

It's only in this coming to nothing
that we find out who we are.

The truest discovery is
that there is nothing to discover.

At some, indefinable point,
we simply run out of options.

No definition will fit,
and there is no comfort zone.

Out of options, and definitions,
we must acknowledge what remains.

Eternally present, unbounded,
we discover the ground of all existence.

The True Self.
Our True nature.

Our original face,
before our parents were born.

Without eyes and ears,
yet all perceiving.

We are home,
discovering that we never left.
