Wind in the pines

Wind in the pines.

If asked
    the nature of chanoyu
        say it's the sound
      of windblown pines
   in a painting.

— Sen Sōtan (1578-1658)

A photograph of my current favourite book, Wind in the Pines: Classic Writings on the Way of Tea as a Buddhist Path. At one of my favourite morning sitting spots, under a pine on the front porch of a deserted little house near here.

Chanoyu is the Japanese Tea Ceremony, an ancient tradition of which I am a student.
