Living zen retreat / Day 21.

In the image above, I love the text on the wall, and the light flooding the space.

But what really fills a space like this, is the light of our being.

Know the power of prayer.

In prayer, we give everything away, to God, the Universe, whatever it may be. It liberates us, leaving us free, light and empty.

We bow our heads.

“The one who bows, and the one who is bowed to are both, by nature, empty.”
Thich Nhat Hanh

When we bow to a statue, image, or concept, there is no separation. The one who is bowed to is us.

We must learn to fall at our own feet.

To fall to our knees in prayer, to rejoice with gratitude, this is grace, and in itself, is to be rejoiced in.

When we pray, our body, mind, and spirit all receive a boost. How can we deny ourselves such power in our lives.

Always seeking, looking outside ourselves, when all we need to do is to drop silently to our knees, and pray to that which we know to be true.

It needs no shape, no form, no description. It has none. It is the great formless one, the One, the Tao, the Mother, the Father, God. Give it any name you wish, but it will remain as it is. Simply that.

Fill your heart, your life, the space around you, with light today, flood it, with the light of prayer. No one else need know. But you will know the difference it makes.

Pray. You already know what to ‘say’.
